Larry and Penny retire from IL Get Away

Penny and I have retired from co-ordinating the Special Touch IL Summer Get Away. We have not missed an IL Get Away since 1985 when we attended the first IL Get Away as caregivers. We leave behind a fruitful legacy and have a lifetime of memories that we will cherish.
Here is the email we sent to our IL Get Away Team Leaders:
Greetings, we have prayerfully decided to retire from coordinating the IL Summer Get Away. We are proud of the fruitful heritage that we leave behind. We have attended every IL Get Away and have served as caregivers, team leaders and coordinators. We knew someday the time would come to retire and we are sure that this is what the Lord would have us do. We are committed to praying for Special Touch every day and for the new IL Get Away coordinators. We will do whatever we can to help provide for a smooth, seamless transition.
The IL 09 Get Away staff will be receiving a thank you letter for serving at Get Away. Embedded in that letter is our retirement announcement. We have a lifetime of memories that we will cherish and have counted it both an honor and a privilege to serve Special Touch Ministry, the IL District of the Assemblies of God, U.S. Missions and most of all those people who have disabilities.
For those of you who use our Special Touch emails please change our email addresses to:
Larry@engageafrica.com
Penny@engageafrica.com

Please join us as we pray for a smooth transition.

Easter Weekend

Have you seen the PASSION OF THE CHRIST? We are showing it right now in the sanctuary. Once was enough for me. We had a wonderful Good Friday communion service at noon today. It was well attended and focused our attention on the cross and the resurrection.

Tomorrow we have our 3rd annual Eggstarvaganza for the children of our church and our community. Pastor Mike and his team are ready to distribute 30,000 Easter eggs, give away 800 hotdogs and then hand out lots of Easter bags with candy, children's ministry brochures and a kid friendly gospel tract.

For Easter Sunday we added a 3rd service at 7:30 and I will be preaching at an Easter message at a local nursing home. then it's off to the hospital with Jeff and Abby to visit my dad, then to Grandma's house for a family dinner with Rachel and my sister's family.

As we approach Easter I hope and pray that you and your family are well and living in the joy of our risen savior.

Engage Africa

Engage Africa is an emerging not for profit that we have created to be the parent organization for funding our missionary endeavours in Africa. We are not incorporating as another religious entity but will register as a charity with humanitarian interests. We believe this will allow us to reach more for our Lord and to be a greater influence in Africa.
Engage Africa will be the sending organization for Jeff and Abby. Our board consists of family and friends with a growing burden for the children of South Africa. Please pray for the Lord's blessing and wisdom and favor, thanks, Larry.

it's cold

We have 6" of snow on the ground and it's 5 degrees and falling fast. Tomorrow is going to be even colder. This morning we had snow drifts up to my knees in front of our garage door. After snow blowing our driveway and then dealing with the snow here at church it's been a full day already. It's almost hard to imagine Pastor Ed and Jodi on a Caribbean cruise for Africa's Hope!!! Although as we were snow blowing their drive and walks visions of them on deck chairs did cross my mind. I sure hope they don't get sea sick or sun burned.
